New EQMac-Based Custom Server Project Looking for Devs / Staff
Hey everyone,
I’m currently building a new EQMac client-based server and I’m looking for a team to help bring it to life.
This is not just another quick setup using stock content. The goal is to build a server with custom source code, new game mechanics, custom content, and a forced patching system so players can experience everything as intended without missing files, outdated assets, or patch-related bugs getting in the way.
Right now I’m working heavily on the foundation of the project:
building much of the database from the ground up
designing a custom world map layout
reworking zone connections and overall world flow
planning custom mechanics and source-level features that will make the server feel unique while still keeping the EQMac spirit alive
I also have the hardware resources to back this up. I currently own 3 dedicated servers and I’m about to buy a 4th. Collecting servers is a hobby of mine, so hosting power and long-term infrastructure are not a problem.
What I’m mainly looking for right now is a solid team. I’m interested in hearing from people with experience in any of the following:
Positions Needed
C++ / Source Developers – custom mechanics, server-side features, source edits
Quest / Perl Scripters – custom content, events, progression ideas
Database / World Builders – spawns, loot, progression flow, zone design, world structure
Client / Patch System Helpers – helping make sure the custom patching system is smooth and reliable
QA / Testers – people who enjoy breaking things and helping improve stability
Community Staff / GMs – mature people who want to help shape a serious long-term project
What I want most is a small group of people who actually care about building something different and polished, not just throwing a server online and hoping for the best.
If this sounds interesting to you, reply here or send me a PM with:
what role you’re interested in
what experience you have
what part of server development you enjoy most
You can also reach me on Discord at Discord.RetroRayTV.com.
I’m especially interested in people who like the idea of helping build something early, while major systems, world structure, and content direction are still being shaped.
Thanks for reading, and I’d love to talk with anyone who might want to be part of this.
