Wow, there is a blanket statement. I guess they suck so bad thats why they are usually number 1 or 2 every quarter in server and desktop sales.

This server kicks ass... Hell of alot more stable than that AMD XP2000 POS I had before...

Im stilled floored I picked up a server that cheap.. The only issue I had was with the 2.5.20 linux kernel handling more than 1 gig of memory correctly.. And I had to dig around a bit to get the gigagit ethernet card to work properly under linux...

You know how it goes Burt, someone gets one computer, they have problems with it, or they try to get it to do alot more than it was made for, then they constantly call it a POS.

Friend of mine had an UGLY ass little hyundai.. That thing got 40+ miles to the gallon, NEVER had an ounce of mechanical problems in 2 1/2 years, but he couldnt race mustangs with it, so he was constanly beating the thing calling it a POS even though the car ran like a dream.. And he was in love with my camero that I had to keep in the shop 3 weeks out of every month. Its amazing how easy it is for people to classify things as a POS.... lol

Yeah, I've been working in enterprise datacenters for the last 3 years and worked for Dell for two years prior to that in the Enterprise server area. Before that I installed about 6 million dollars in servers in two years. I can tell you exactly what problems they do and don't have. I have worked with every major vendor in the last ten years, IBM, HP, Compaq, and Dell. The last datacenter I worked at I help build. I can honestly say I have seen almost all of it. When Compaq was producing junk to try to compete with Dell, when Dell really broke into the server market. I say if it is that cheap and it runs well for you then it is a good deal. I couldn't tell you much about thier PC's though. People are parots, they just repeat what they hear.

32gb? That's beyond insane. I dare you to figure out a way to use up just 8gb of ram....

(hint: you're gonna have to run more than one process to get it, or use the newer enterprise level applications that have 36 bits of addressable memory space!)

Sounds like if he puts enough quests in, he shouldnt have a problem eating that 32G.

If you want to eat some memory, install Oracle then IBM Websphere...

Webspheres JVM likes to ignore max heap sizes...lol...
