The patcher is kindof wierd. Things that can help fix the problem are:

Did you follow these instructions and install mdac_type.exe

Did you actually run mdac_type.exe or just download it?

The patch server is geting LOTS of trafic, try agin later.

ping.exe foreverhacking.net

tracert.exe foreverhacking.net

The contents of patcher.log
The contents of patchedtemp if it exists AND seems to be text

Is patcher.exe in the same dir as eqgame.exe like it should be?


If patcher.log says you downloaded a file ANY file, then my guess is either heavy net trafic, or not installing mdac_typ is the problem.

The MDAC is for systems pre sp1. It's a good idea to check via the link to MS any if your having issues.

Me again, still patient.
Has there been a definite solution, i followed the rules to a t.
I traced the route, i pinged, i saw that it wasn't downloading any file whatsoever.
I am just checking here every so often, i have all but given up on this.

Their is a server that that patcher connects connects to and apparently it is down right now!

I havn't heard anything about an ETA on when this will be fixed.

If you want to help them, donate some money to Hogie. A lot of us have done it in the past. The bills can really drag him down. It's not free to run this emulator. If you want to help him resolve this, offer him some money via paypal or money order.

Even $5 would help.

I can only connect to the site from work most of the time!

I constantly receive a message stating to email your hate mail to some guy at comcast!

Not sure whats up with that. I have a site that's paid for for the year. I played around with setting up a Forum on it!

I would even be willing to let them move this over to their depending on Bandwith transfers an what not per month. Its only been up for 3 weeks. Down side the main page is An Adult Products Site, thats what I do, so I'm not taking that part down. I don't know if they would want it on that. It's an apache server hosted via Lunar Pages, its a PHPBB and I think I can name it what ever and block the link to the main page as to not affend anyone or be advertising adult content to any minors that may log on to this board.

But I don't want to shell out what ever and not be able to get my own server patched! don't know! If Hogie wants he can email me!

And I will discuss all this with him.
