Default where does patch.dat come from

I am one of the people having trouble getting the patcher to work.

The exe file installs just 2 files which are patch.exe and patch.dll ,when you run the patcher it creates a patch.log file .

This is what mine says:

************************************************** *****
Log Opened: 24/04/2003 12:58:15
************************************************** *****

GetFile Filename: patch.dat
Error: Cannot connect

************************************************** *****
Log Opened: 24/04/2003 18:30:36
************************************************** *****

GetFile Filename: patch.dat
Error:

I don`t understand this because there is no patch.dat file in the EQ install anyway,so why is it looking for a file that doesn`t exist.
Can someone please explain this.

Default

It comes from the server that you can't connect to.

You have a firewall or antivirus or something that patcher doesn't agree with. It might even be your ISP.
