Are you trying to log into the server from the same machine as the server is running on?

If so, the 127.0.0.1 7995 127.0.0.1 works

If you are running the client from a different machine you need to replace the 127.0.0.1's to the actual IP address of the interface which can be found with ipconfig

do i change it only to 7995? or all?

127.0.0.1 does actually works, but i want everyone else to be able to log on my server, and also me to be able to log on my server (without no friggin 1017!)

here i did this...

login ini
Quote:
[LoginServer]
loginserver=eqlogin1.eqemu.net
loginserver2=eqlogin2.eqemu.net
loginport=5999
loginport2=5999
worldname=Durfenity's
worldaddress=12.222.202.120
locked=FALSE
account=
password=

[WorldServer]
Defaultstatus=
Unavailzone=

[LoginConfig]
ServerMode=Standalone
ServerPort=5999
UplinkAddress=
UplinkPort=
UplinkAccount=
UplinkPassword=
and boot5zones.bat
Quote:
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7995 192.168.0.100
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7996 192.168.0.100
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7997 192.168.0.100
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7998 192.168.0.100
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7999 192.168.0.100
that one gives me 1017, i tried to change ip around to this

Quote:
start zone . 12.222.202.120 7995 192.168.0.100
start zone . 12.222.202.120 7996 192.168.0.100
start zone . 12.222.202.120 7997 192.168.0.100
start zone . 12.222.202.120 7998 192.168.0.100
start zone . 12.222.202.120 7999 192.168.0.100
still 1017, and...

Quote:
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7995 12.222.202.120
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7996 12.222.202.120
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7997 12.222.202.120
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7998 12.222.202.120
start zone . 192.168.0.100 7999 12.222.202.120
does the 1017 too..

yes i did get these ip from running cmd and type ipconfig, yes i did get 12.222.202.120 from 'whatsmyip' website, yes my firewall is off. any leftover suggestion?

Default similar problem

I'm running behind a linksys router and I had the same problem. What I did was set the dmz on the router to the ip for the machine that was running the server(192.168.1.101) and all other ip were the actual IP of my machines. This lets others log in as well as myself. Here's the kicker though. I get the 1017 the first time I log in. Attempting again gets me in. Sometimes on very busy days it'll take me 3-4 attempts but I can always get in.

So far that's what works for me.

Default Same thing here 1017

I have also been getting this error "1017". I posted a question about it a few days ago here, but no reply. I have re-loaded both the EQ game and the emu several times, still no go. I have copyed the EQ dir over to my emu dir and no go, also then removed all exe files except eqgame.exe, yet again no go. I have changed all parts where localhost is and placed 127.0.0.1, localhost, or even 192.168.0.2 which is my machines IP. No go.. hmmmm, I have also tried to log onto other servers and still, no go. My information is correct in my eqhost file, have checked this MANY times. My own server does run, no errors, it is listed in the world listing when starting the game, but, once again and continuos, the ol' 1017 error. No matter how I set it up, or where I go to log on to another server, same thing. My sql database is good, or the server would not run. like I said, the server loads and runs just fine. just can not log in. anywhere. The only thing I can think of now is the version of EQ I am running. Never played before. And after running and playing UO for so long, I decided why not give EQ a try. I bought the standard EQ game. Not an expasion or what ever. I loaded and patched it according to the instruction given in these forums and the docs for hte emu. Several times....... I have 4 expansions loaded now according the the patch program. So not rel sure why it not working unless the last patch did it. of course, the last patch was the first for me. lol... I patched at the 1st part of this month. When I was setting up the server.
Any ideas?

Default Got it going finnaly

Disregard my last post here. I finnaly got it working good.
What it took was about two hours of patching using the live patch. I reckon I patched live about a dozen times. Then used patcher about the same amount of times. Trying to login after each patch ws done. Persistance paid off finnaly. So, for those who still can not login. Just keep patching using the live patch then patcher. It workd for me. Oh, one more thing, you must be sure the patcher is installed in your game EQ directory. When I started this a couple weeks ago, I did not place it there and it would not function. So I moved it to my EQ game dir and it worked fine. Just took like forever to finnaly get all the files I needed and patched correctly.
Not sure why it took so many patches, but hey, it works now so I am happy

Even though I did not get any replys to my posts, I still wish to thank all those here for there help. This is one of hte best EMU supporting groups I have run across to date. Thanks guys, a very wonderfull job you have done and are doing..
