I have no personal experience killing the sleeper, or being anywhere near sleeper's tomb when the incident 'occurred.' As you have stated before I have also come accross several conflicting stories (ie.: running back-and-forth in front of the sleeper and hitting Kerafyrm with barehands; hiding casters under the bridge; etc; etc ).
The exploit you ( and I ) are referring to is using a rock to trap the warders, a flaw in the pathfinding ( which was fixed long ago ), which rendered the warders unable to attack. I don't know if the same was done for the sleeper ( I would have to find out some more ).
However, there was a GM event ( or mini event ) where GMs did despawn the sleeper after he was stuck in the side of the mountain which, like the warders, rendered him unable to attack.
Here was what I found as far as the exploit --
Not everyone on the servers you mentioned are fools =P. On Druzzil Ro only the newbie people are stupid and unfortunatlely that is who posts mostly =P as for killing the sleeper, it can be done but so far only thru an exploit of trapping him in a rock, the guild was banned from EQ that did this. In normal situations tho yes, Sleeper is 100% unkillable atm. He hits for to much, and has to much hp. He in the current rate of what people can do is unkillable, this may change in time but for now he can't be killed
However, as you said, information is conflicting everywhere... But there is prolly some quest somewhere reguarding the death of the sleeper ( even thou the death of the sleeper would mean the end of norrath ( according to the lore ) ).
I will have to contact several of my old EQ buddies to see what they remember/know of all of the hype surrounding the incident....
