Hey All,
Just checking everyones opinion on this matter, I've seen alot of tragic suicides online, of which, most of them blamed EverQuest for how "Addicting" it is.

Thanks and don't forget to place your opinion-

Here in France, a few years a go, we got the same troubles with RPG. Some guys suicide themselves and suddenly, everybody said they were roleplaying gamers and they suicide because they were identifying themselves to the chars they were playing... you ll always find parents unable to assume their full chess in raising their children and who will reject it on an easy target. So, when their acts are approved by a few weak public personnalities in loss of popularity (don't wanna name Mireille Dumas here).. it becomes a nationnal threat, pointed by all the familly associations and so on...
of course its addictive, of course some guys arent able to consider a game as a game, but i also seen some guys suicide because of their job, their wives, etc etc, and nobody said to stop to work or to stay single !!!

The same thing happened in the states years ago. A teenager went nuts, and everyone blamed it on D&D... Ultimately, it's just an outlet for an already screwed up mind, but in this day and age, everyone needs a scapegoat so they don't have to place the blame on their own inadequecies as role models.

It doesnt take much, the public in general loves a villian to blame the problems of the youth on, every few years its something different... D&D, Rap music, violence on tv, video games..

It'll be back around to D&D pretty soon....

You took the words right out of my mouth, Trumpcard.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder affects 1:50 people today, with varying degrees of severity.

Luckily, treatment can help most people with OCD. Although OCD is usually completely curable only in some individuals, most people achieve meaningful and long-term symptom relief with comprehensive treatment.

Of course, information is key here, but if I were worried about abnormal behavior in my child, I'd start asking questions and find out what the hell was the problem.

I can personally say that I was 'probably' addicted to EQ. I spent FAR too much time playing.

I have trouble defining addictive. I know that many drugs cause the body pain and discomfort when an addict won't use them. I don't know the effects of not playing EQ. It only made me wish I played EQ, somewhat like smoking marijuana. Fun stuff, good times, would do it again if it were legal here, and I miss it from time to time. But I'm not addicted to it. Haven't touched the stuff in years, and I don't yearn for it.
