Default #movechar politics

Hi all,

StudentQuest has begun to feel the pressure of many characters logging in and getting 'stuck' in zones. A lot have people have asked me to enable the #movechar eqemu command. But before I do, I would like to perform some research.

A few issues:
  • I cannot find the #movechar command listed in the EQEmu guides, linked to from the home page.
  • What is the format for this command?
  • What rights does this command give players over other players?
  • Can this be adjusted to allow movement of characters only linked to the same account or by GMs?
  • Can we add this information to the guides?
  • Can I make more demands in a single post?
Once I get some input for these questions, I should be able to make a decision as to whether I will enable the #movechar command or not.

iirc, #movechar only moves characters on that players account unless it's a GM account issuing the command. I haven't looked at the code in a while but that's what I recall from when it was implemented.

It basically allows characters to move a stuck character to the zone of their choice. You could limit it with a little additional coding if you wanted to, so that players can move to a safe zone, designated by you, as always up/working.

Very good.
Close inspection of the code shows that yes, you can only move characters on your own account.

Cheers, thanks for your help
