that is correct - you should append --u root...

--u root

to the mysql.exe command.

c:\mysql\bin\mysql.exe -u root <password>

and then you should be able to use the grant command

ok - I figured it out.

The quests NPC ID's did not match up with the database. When I rolled back to Dawdes 1.1 final - it worked like a charm. However, the spawns aren't moving :'(

The Solution

when you run mysql make sure that you are under the user named root...

c:\mysql\bin>mysql -u root


then you can grant access and do whatever you want without an access denied error....

ACCESS DENIED - FIX

Heres a little fix to make sure that access won't be denied when you try to grant privileges to your eq database.

Run Command.com and type
cd c:\mysql\bin
mysql -u root

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES...
