I'm having a similair problem as others here. I can load the game to the character screen. I can sometimes even create a new character (although I sometimes get disconnected while making a character). I then will press enter world and wait. It will then either go directly to the disconnected screen or it will go to the loading world screen and then to the disconnected screen.

I am patched to live eq. I have the eqhost set up correctly. I have tried changing the datarate from 8.0 to 5.0 to 3.0 all with no difference. And I have tried about five servers, including the one green server that I've seen up.

I did get in once (on BrightBlade) as a Frogglok. I stayed on for quite awhile in one zone but lost the game when I zoned. I haven't gotten back in as that character or any other on any of the servers I've tried since.

One thing that might be helpful is if the people running servers could post how many zones they have running and if they are fixed zones or not. I also wonder what kind of computers are being set up as servers and what kind of connections those servers are on.

I'm sure all of that along with my own wonderful 26k connection combine to make it so that I frequently get disconnected.

And if there are "in game" problems and issues, that just lowers my chances of getting on a server even more.

I'm hoping though that I'll get lucky some time soon.

It very well could kick you before you see your character...

If there are not enough zones available when I attmept to sign onto a server from a zone that isnt up... My comp freezes for 5 minutes and then it's back to the server select...

In cases like that... I believe just being patient is the best policy...

EDIT: Astartea, it sounds like you have bad luck with when you choose to login...

Dman,

When there are not enough zones when logging in from the character select screen, the character select screen will remain and just lock up. If this is not what you are experiencing, then it's likely a different problem.

Yeah, I guess so. Although I have tried several times during day and night. I wonder if a DSL connection would help me get on... Well, I'm off to try to get on again.

I do not believe conneciton speed really matters with this problem (if we are speaking of the same problem)

I would try logging onto some of the larger servers.... Also, if you are trying to log onto Froggies or Iksar and the like, try classic EQ characters.... (the server might not have expansion zones loaded)

OK, I got on today on Fish-Wolf when there was a shocking 6 people on. So it may have something to do with zone-servers afterall. Or population in general.

But then I went LD in 15 seconds, new issue for me, but not the concern here.

When I tried to re-log-in I was unable with the same symptoms as before.

Maybe its an "active-character" issue? This would explain why I was able to get in once and only once. Whats the current implementation of the active-character instance development? Is it known to be reliable? Slow to kick? I've never gotten as active character error after going linkdead and I attempt to log in immediately. Thats strange and would not happen on live.

HAHAHAHAH GOD LIKE

It is an active character issue.

I logged on another character on that account and I see myself in the other zone.

WOOT...off to the bugs forum.

Default This might help

As far as the zone not available i am thinking since some servers only have a few zones available if your in a unpopular zone the avaiable amount of zones online might be taken by places like home towns/PoK/Nexus/ PoP zones try it again when theres hardly anyone there and see if you can log in. Also if it's still implemented i know there was a command to make use another char and you can move that stuck char to a diff zone.

The Load to main menu could just be unstable servers like matt said there still under dev. and some people are just running enough of a server to get what they need going this might clear up when the bugs are worked out. Just try a diff server with more people. Plus I have learned if i get a server like this and i can get into it later i ussually LD in under 5 mins cause there just not up there enough to handle all the commands being sent to it. Like using a White Fire Warsword/2 haste items/ and spell haste first time i attack something my connection line goes crazy and i bomb out. Just give it time and it'll all level out. Other factors to consider is Servers are connected to you from a personal Internet Provider so if someones just having a crap connection or there downloading something that will effect the server and what it can handle. Like he said just try a diff server ones bound to let you play

Thats just funny!

Anywhos. I notice ALOT of improvement with DR5 and the latest patch. I get booted ALOT less and usually get kicked back to the characture select sreen now. Nice job.

And no, if you can play EQLive with your current connection, then I would venture to guess your connection would be good enought for EQEmu
