What's the processor speed? 256mb of ram might be a little low but might be okay. Video card doesn't matter for the server, it's the processor and ram that make the difference.

To use the version that is compatible with 07/14, you need to compile it from CVS, there aren't any precompiled binaries that I've seen yet. There are tutorials on how to compile if you need it....
